Vcds 008583 help please.
« on: November 27, 2014, 09:23:50 pm »
Hi all,

Can anyone help with suggestions on how to go about addressing the following?

2006 Gti DSG 73000 miles.

Get the following code when starting from cold along with high number of misfires on all cylinders (although not enough to set off the intermittent misfires codes). Once the engine is warm there's no sign of the issue or misfires at all. If I clear the code whilst the engine is warm it won't raise it again until it goes through another cold start.

Code is:
008583 - Bank 1; System too Lean at Idle
               P2187 - 004 -  - Intermittent

When I've searched for it it seems that others have had it appear along with other codes which isn't the case for me. Some people have suggested fuel pump, is there a way to test this or other suggestions?

Cheers

Thanks, yeah I have seen that but I was wondering whether there's any more clues given that it's only happening when cold or any further tests to establish whether various parts are working correctly.

Hi all,

So I sorted this one in early December, it was a split pcv hose. Swapped in the latest version pcv on the basis that the old one was likely to go wrong at some point anyway.

Have put a massive split in my engine cover/air box getting that off so will attempt a bit of plastic welding to sort that one.

Onwards and upwards...
