MK5 Gti lost all power/boost

As title says.. Literally lost all boost/power, its like driving an N/A car.

Car has been mapped in the past by a previous owner, there is some sort of oil leak around the turbo area. Had a look in the service history and it says the turbo was replaced about 10k ago.. Possible it wasnt done properly?

Pulled into a car park switched it off, came back out and realised i had no power!

Any ideas guys?? (Will start a thread on my car, got it last weekend)

You need to read the fault codes mate 

Check the turbo and all the boost pipes over, turbo could have been starved of oil and failed maybe?

When on idle it is erratic and under load its a whooshing sound.. Very air'y

As above, scan for fault codes and check the pipework. May be the connection pipe from the intercooler to the turbo has come away due to a failed fitting which is common on these engines.

Done a scan today and nothing came up apart from p0036 (heater control oxygen sensor control circuit) which im guessing is from the fact its been de-catted?

Also got a OBD-2 wifi adaptor and the appropriate app and got a live reading.. Boost seems low.. This was gunning it in 3rd , as you can see there is a massice drop in power and torque aswel.

It is possible you need to replace the B1-S2 Oxy sensor. But the code could be resulting from something else undetected...but not likely. It sounds like it has gone into safe-mode due to boost plumbing leakage or cam follower failure or something. But you should have a more definite error code other than just P0036. honestly its just like driving a 1.6 or something now.. terrible! That is the only code flagging up at the min, the cam follower failure sounds bad.. i ordered a cam follower should be here this week ( part number - 06D109309C ).

is it safe to drive? or will it do more damage?

I was always told you cant read boost on the Gti through the Obd port!
I have a scangauge and it just reads 0 whenever ive tried it!
Also a cant see the bhp/torque being anywhere near accurate surely?

If it is the cam follower...replace as quickly as possible.
If you do replace quickly...you have a chance to save the intake cam, but not likely going to save the hpfp. But this would only be a concern if your code reader isn't reading all of the codes because a cam follower failure would definitely pop a code. I would think to focus on the O2 sensor after you check the follower. Is your hpfp banjo or bamboo?
