new here from Chorley
« on: December 09, 2014, 09:17:12 am »
hello!

New here from Chorley!

Not got my mkV just yet, but have my eye on one which i am hoping to get. Still rocking my ancient mkIV which i have had for 8 years.

One thing i have noticed from looking at a lot of cars is that most of them have the intake cover missing. Does this have any detrimental effects on anything?

Hopefully post up pictures soon of my new-to-me car and hope to learn lots of stuff off this forum :)

cheers!

I'm Preston too :) have vcds if you need anything scanning.

Re the intake cover.
Do you mean the one at the front of the engine bay that cover the intake leading the airbox?
you'll find the part number if you do a search. They're not much to buy from vw. I guess they help with the airflow, no major issue if its missing, but would be better to have it.

hello - thanks for the offer jason! i am hoping that all is well with the car i just bought (yay!). it's very clean and recently has had all the tyres and brakes done so hopefully i won't need to buy any consumables for a while. I bought a Touran a while ago and stupidly didn't check the tyres and had to shell out for a full set... d'oh!

yes, the cover is the at the front of the engine bay. I've got the dealer to sort that out for me as part of the deal.

Happy days!

Take a look near the end of my thread, here's your intake cover. No affect on engine performance and only an aesthetic thing

Welcome from Thornton-Cleveleys  :happy2:

All the best with your new motor (get some pictures up!)

I'm up and down the m6 a fair bit, so our paths may cross at some point...
