Which Springs 1.9 TDI
«

Hey all
Just put some Scirocco 18" Turbine on my Tdi
235/40/18 tyres
How much drop can I get away with & which springs are going to give me the best drop for the ££ without rubbing or scraping on bumps but still look alright ?
Any info appreciated

What width and offset are the wheels? 235 tyres are a touch wide and could rub if you go too low. I imagine about a 25 - 30mm drop should be a good balance.

Hi Dan genuine scirocco interlagos alloys
I think they are 8J with 41 offset, does this help?

If you want to go very low you'll need to roll your front fender at least. From what a knowledged friend told me we can go with 8J to ET45 tops, with less it will rub, specially with 235 tyres and not the usual 225.

Yeh with 235's on them if you go too low you'll get scrubbing. I think anything around 25mm should be OK, I don't know much about springs since I only get coilovers because I like the flexibility. But I hear good stuff about Eibach.

Either Eibach or H&R and you'll be happy. Even a 30 mm lowering might be enough to get scrubbing on rare occasions.

Ok so I'm running the risk of problems any more than 25-30mm yeah?

Probably, depends on how fast you go around corners and how often your car is loaded etc. But yes 25/30mm is about your limit

To be honest I'm not willing to ditch the alloys & tyres. Should I just bin the lowering option if the 235 tyres are too wide then?

You can postpone lowering until you fit 225 tyres or be careful while driving over bumps and depressions. If you decide to roll your fenders you won't have worry if you prefer to fit Eibach Sportlines, for example.

Update*
Ok so i driven the Golf with the Rocco alloys on for 62miles this morning and there is no knocking on speed humps or either
left or right full lock of steering wheel.
So we think about the 25mm mark would be ok for drop yeah?
