Anti lift kit and RARB
« on: December 12, 2014, 02:42:40 pm »
Hi guys, current suspension setup is KW V1's and front wishbones are polybushed. I'm getting a bunch of stuff done around April next year and have been looking at some decent value suspension/ handling mods. I will be doing a superpro engine mount as Alex says its easy and will help with traction and gear changes, will also get some 42dd bushings to tighten up changes as well.

I have been looking at Anti lift kits and have Bought a Whiteline rear ARB (which I got for a steal). How much difference will these make with my current set up/ planned mods. From what I've read theyre great for helping traction and reducing under steer.

Just looking for any first hand experience with them so I can convince myself I need them  :signLOL:

I got the SALK fitted recently with the rear GTI ARB as well. My factory fitted RARB was 1 mm less thick than the one from the GTI.

I think you'll love the ALK, I recommend the SALK over the WALK because the SALK seems to be tougher in the reviews. You'll improve your understeer a lot, really a lot. I'm loving mine.

The RARB will allow your rear to slide more in the tight corners, decreasing the understeer as well. I preferred a rear ARB from the GTI because I wanted to keep rubber bushes. Instead of getting already a stronger RARB you can try fitting Powerflex bushes. That might be enough for your needs and it's much cheaper. Purple for road use or black for track use.

Thanks, I was looking at the Salk as it has some great reviews. How comes you prefer the GTI roll bar over the aftermarket one? I had a big ARB on the back of my old car and I loved the way the back end came out but was soooo easy to control still

The rubber bushes keep a lower transmission of vibrations from the rear suspension going over bumps and pot holes. Aftermarket RARB only have polyurethane bushes.

So far I'm happy with my current suspension setup. Enough for fast road use and still comfortable enough for the wife.

Oh that makes sense, for me though that doesn't matter so much, I can handle a firmer ride if it drives better.
