Right thought id start a build thread as been hovering around on here for a while.

So from the start, My girlfriend became pregnant and we were expecting a little boy. My life is now all about to change. So it was time for my pride and joy to go :(

My t5 had done me very well but i needed the money out of it to get a family car, move out etc etc.
so here she is (as seen in the new gti calendar)

so after spending a load of money on airride, new wheels, and loads of other stuff the plan was completely scrapped. Van was sold and my heart was broken.....Bank balance looked good though.
My girlfriend had a mini cooper convertible but this was a useless car with a baby so that had to go. So started looking for a 5 door, baby friendly car. But this was by no means going to be a boring car. Im car mad. Ive always wanted a MK5 golf R32 but after bit of searching they were out of my price range, plus just under £500 to tax? So gti is second best....and arguably a better car for many reasons. I found a well specced 5 door gti in black (not really the colour i was after) not to far away and went and had a look, was really impressed with the car and agreed a deal with the mini so drove away in "our" new car.
so heres the first photos

This is our family car, in other words my gf uses it everyday and I use it at weekends as a toy etc.
Im not very good at leaving stuff alone, but i new from the start i couldn't just do what i like to this car, it needs to stay a usable car. so no stupid wheels and really low... so the wheels from the van went out the window

so i bought these instead

my mate works at audi and hooked me up with some brand new centre caps, nut caps and audi dust caps.
I also bought a load of cleaning products a u.s spec grill and a mk6 boot badge.
Decided that i wasn't going to fit the grill till my plate was on. This took the best part of 8 weeks which annoyed me loads. Finally got the v5 and got the grill fitted,my plate on and fitted the mk6 badge! only minor details but started to look a bit like mine

so after this the car remained the same for a while. i split the speedline's and had my good friend refurb the lips as the centres where ok for now. I had told myself i wasn't putting linglong tyres on them. So they were just put to the side and i was waiting to save for tyres. Having to support a family and being the only one with income everything is bit tight money wise(we all have choices so can't moan about it) so with the car if its not broke i can't really waste money on it. I was starting to get really bored of the car and really wanted the wheels on it and it lower. so after a bit of saving i decided id put some cheapish tyres (nankang ) on the wheels and get them on the car. With a set of h&r springs for good measure. so called in a few favours here and there and I've ended up with this so far

Car was filthy and only had my iPhone for pictures so will try to get some better with my camera soon!

I have endless plans for the car, i want xenons as it was the only thing the car didn't have that i really wanted,
my list to come

full respray
edition30 front splitter
mk6 sideskirts
mk6 gti rear bumper/splitter
mk6 miltek with decat
s3 intercooler
remap
stillstatic coilovers
mk7 steering wheel
decent tyres
r32 rearlights
wingback recaros/cs recaros trimmed to standard cloth
and on and on.

thanks for reading this far with out getting bored  :happy2:

Looks great so far  :happy2:

However your list seems to be a bit more than "if it its not broke I can't waste money on it"  :signLOL:

Seems like you've got the modifying disease.

Got my brakes, hubs and wheels fitted just in time for players last weekend! Still not 100% on the wheels still, and the rs3 hubs have pushed the track out by 10 mm so need my front archs rolled and made wider! Need coilovers now as im not happy with how it sits! Heres some pics  :jumping:

planning on some new wheels very soon and some bilsteins, hopefully start looking at engine mods soon along with the usual pcv and dv valve change. decatted both cats on it too now and cut the centre box out but it now sounds a bit like a diesel on tick over and slow driving! My gf hates me and now wants her own car  :signLOL:

I'm not that familiar with the RS3 hub lower control arm setup other than the mentioned 10mm wider due to wider ball bearing. I have had the "normal" TT mk 2 setup which is alloy parts and allows for adjustable negative camber at the ball joint. This gives at max. Negative camber 7mm wider track on top of the hubs being 15mm wider so 22mm in total. If the RS3 hubs are of the same dimensions and you ad a further 10mm you will have trouble running your existing rims at the ET of 42-48mm. Rolling the fenders won't be enough. You need to look at Kerscher or SRS-Tec from Germany that makes 30mm wider front fenders in reinforced plastic. I had the Kerscher solution along with my TT mk 2 alloy front hubs and lower controlarms.

Over the top mod list ;o)
