Silly little bolt holding disc to hub

Hi All

In pain bruised & battered but new discs one 

When I found that I didn't have the 7mm alan I went to the local VW dealers to get two new bolts to attach the disc to the hub.
22p each but not a stock part. They are really helpful in parts. The guy went to ask a mechanic what they did as the part isn't stocked. 

"Don't bother repacing as they are a pain in the a$$"

The wheel bolts keep everything in place and true ended up drilling one of the little bhhers out.

What does anyone else think?

Don't know if to order and next time I take the wheels off replace these little bolts.

Whilst the Mech is correct, that the wheels will hold the disc in place.  It will be a right royal pain the aris, potentially every time you remove the wheel the disc may require re-orientating.

Can you get a set of Mole grips onto the remaining stud (with the disc removed)?  Give it a little penetrating oil, and if you have to some heat and get it out.

It would be better in the long run, maybe when you fit the new screw, use a minute amount of copper grease?

Kinda deep down knew that but didn't want to admit it.

The stub of the remaining bolt helped this time.

Going to get removal kit on what's remaining and replace in near future.
Left a screwdriver as a hole locator in the car until then.

I had one before that was a twat to get out, used a power driver and got it out before it was too mashed

One tip is to use an Impact Driver, prior to even attempting to remove, give it a good rattle with a hammer on the end of the driver and it should make it easier to remove.

Didn't have a hex bit for the impact driver. Did try hitting it from both the front and back. With loads of wd40 too.

Next time, I (hopefully/possibly) won't have the car assuming another 55k on the clock
