HALLED30's Edition 30
« on: December 16, 2014, 11:03:40 pm »
So I thought since i was planning to start making changes to my edition 30 i might as well start a build thread.

At the start of March I decided that after saving up money and already having a job secured for the summer break of 6 months away from uni that i would start looking at getting a more powerful car. My first car was a Mini Cooper; I had lightly modded it with new grille, eibach springs, scorpion exhaust and tinted windows along with some JCW wheels. But it got to the point where i could either put more money into it or get something that i could put my own touch on and be able to pull some power on it.

When i was looking at cars i was looking at a Mini JCW, Seat Leon or Mk5 GTI. My dad had previously owned a MK5 GTI pirelli edition and i'd loved it. So on the off chance i took a look at them and the Edition 30's. I was just looking at most cars and firing in insurance details to compare the market looking for insurance deals, i wasn't even hoping to get insurance on an edition 30 but somehow came but with a sub £800 quote which i couldn't believe considering my age.

So after being shocked with the quote i went hunting and came up with my steel grey manual Edition 30 with 45k miles and xenons.

After buying the car i just spent the rest of summer being in love with it and trying to save my money back up along with the fuel prices. But then it came to the point where I wasn't loving the height of the car and it just sat so high and i felt the car just wasn't on point in handling compared to the mini. I then bought bilstein b14 coilovers,  I've also put a stubby ariel on and a new double din. Here some photos of the car at the moment:

Plans for the car now are:
Put an Edition 30 badge on the front grille that I've just bought
Full exhaust system (maybe r32 style)
Cold Air intake
Custom remap - Would love R-tech but since I'm from Glasgow it's quite the distance
New brakes - NSQBBK, TTRS probably
Open front grills
15MM spacers all round
Refurb my pescaras in matte or gloss black (open to suggestions)
P3 gauge
Whiteline Anti Lift Kit

Hopefully after christmas and my birthday in january i can start firing more into the car.

How is the ride on the coilovers? Heard a lot of good things about Bilstein

Lovely car! I do like my tornado but the steel grey is an awesome colour! If it was me I wouldn't paint the wheels black i'd refurb them in a super shiny silver like BMW's hyper silver, I think the grey contrasts so well with nice clean silver wheels

Thanks guys

@GrayMK5GTI Yeah the ride is really good, i have the coils turned all the way down and its a firm ride but the suspension doesn't crash at all.

@ed30sam123 Thanks! Yeah i get where you are coming from but i do like the look of black on the grey, i think it makes the car match better as well though because there isn't any silver. But most importantly I'm sick of cleaning my wheels constantly because silver shows up any dirt :scared:

@samiul11 I couldn't actually tell you the exact model, i bought it second hand on here! I am impressed though its got iPod, Sat nav, bluetooth audio and phone. Had to opt for this as i had the older can bus and would have gotten battery drain with the rns510
