ipod docking station need help please

my docking station in the centre armrest is for an iphone 4, ive bought a connector to covert it to an iphone 6. the mp3 play is working as I can change the tracks up and down and the song time is counting up however there is no sound coming out of the speakers, the sound is just coming out of the phone. does anyone have any advise.

Sounds like audio pass through via the cable isn't supported, you'll need to check the packaging or item description of the cable.
