Panel filter
« on: December 18, 2014, 08:50:48 am »
Hi,

What panel filter do people recommend for a ed30 ?, are they worth the money ?. I read a review of the K&N and it came out worse than the standard one. Can't find the link now to share, but it flowed less due to the rubber edges of the filter blocking the air enforce it turns 90deg in the air box. Wish I could find the damn link !  :jumping:

Anyway, what do people think ?

Had a pipercross in my gti the last 6 months and it's been great no issues so far, can't say I noticed any difference to the old standard one to be honest though.

Agree with that. Made more difference on my K03 GTI than my ed30.

I will never use pipercross panel filter anymore. I got the filter 2 years ago and now opened up to check it. There is black dust after the filter in turbo inlet :( Im so pissed right now.. I went back to paper filter. Atleast it keeps my turbo and engine healthy.

You check&clean your "sport" air filter every two years? I hope you not...

Just keep the paper one. I feel like a broken record posting about the oe air filters. There is very little flow difference between a high flow panel and paper filter. An  independent test showed a 0.9% difference from the highest flowing compared to paper. Also remember that the after market filters cannot filter out the small microns of dirt that cause engine wear. A filters job is to do exactly that. Filter the air.  I ran my paper filter at stage 2+ and the car flowed more than enough air and never had any issues. Save your money and just change it every 10,000 miles
