Standard PCV - can you clean it out?
« on: December 21, 2014, 09:20:55 am »
Is it possible to remove the PCV and clean it out with an appropriate cleaner i.e will it ruin anything inside?, just with a point of view of preventive maintenance. My old Volvo use to game up with oil which slowly closed the pipe (common problem) so once a year removed it and washed it through.

I seem to remember a recent post where a 'failed' one had been taken apart, and some rubber valve part had actually split.
So I guess they can't be repaired.
Maybe one that is gummed up can be cleaned out? Got to be worth a try.
I've got one in the garage I changed recently - I going to take a look!
