« on: December 18, 2014, 09:44:48 pm »
Hi, I'm having a remap done by Mike stokes in bournemouth shortly and wondered if anyone had any reviews on them and what I should expect to see once it's done? I have a 58 dsg with no ther mods at the moment. Many thanks

Haha reviewed all the benefits of having it down hence getting it sorted. Just wanted a recommendation about that particular garage.
If they were that good at selling I would have paid in advance!

They will no doubt be using a file supplier.

^this. Hopefully you aren't paying more than £200 for a generic file written by a guy who probably hasn't even seen a MK5 GTI

Make sure the "tuner" logs the car with VCDS afterwards to make sure everything is ok. Check that he will refund you if you aren't happy before you hand over any money.

There has been that many posts on the forum from guys who go for the closest & cheapest guy offering remaps, only to have all sorts of running issues after.

Looking at their website, they buy their "remaps" from Derbyshire Remapping.  . .

This is true, its always advisable to make a road trip to a well used and respected tuner and pay more because if your engine map isnt right you'll suffer poor performance and economy and generally not like the way the car drives. Cheap fixes aren't always the best way.
