Do you still have the standard intercooler?

Sadly, yes. The stock FMIC and HPFP are the only ones keeping me from going proper Stage 2.

I've been delaying this post for a while amidst busy life, work and other commitments. So here it finally goes.

My latest mods include a NEW Mk6 Scirocco DSG MFSW and a Mk6 Golf 200MPH Whiteline Instrument Cluster. Mateyguv hooked me up with Mk6 Golf cluster and helped with the Scirocco face swap. He's a top bloke with great service and comms so highly recommended. I got the MFSW directly from Eddie-NL that he had advertised on the forum here.

Finally on 08 June I planned a trip to Eddie-NL. Was a long haul from South London but I had a break at Aldeburgh so not too bad. Took a while to get the Cluster coded as it showed the wrong door opened (right for left, and left for right)...after much fiddling with the CAN Gateways, Ed managed to get it sorted. But then some airbag MIL error kept coming up in VCDS. Eventually I ended up getting a New Gateway (Fatigued model) and then everything worked fine. Now the cluster even warms me to take a break every 2-3 hrs  Steering wheel of course feels great and I'm glad I can now change audio tracks (and even folders) using just the remote. Certainly makes the 850W+ sound system a lot more convenient  :innocent:

I'll let the pics do the talking now...

Out with the old:

In with the new:

Few pics while she cooled down at Aldeburgh:

This one is with my mum:

Here's a brief video I recorded for cluster staging and the remote functions

These mods weren't cheap but completely transform the vehicle, as I'm sure most of you would agree. Feels great too and the white display is a treat to look at. I personally like the Engine Oil Temp and Speedo in digital format. Blue illuminated needles are defo nice!

Since this change, I've driven over 1200 miles for a holiday to the Lake District, Scotland (Inverness) and North Pennines. I'll post some nice pictures/thrills from my trip shortly.

Thoughts/comments welcome as always!

Car looks great!  :happy2: What is the stage 1.5 retch map like? I'm considering getting it on my Leon after the new year... Running Stage 1 already is there a big difference?

Hi mate, to be honest I did notice a considerable jump from my initial R-Tech map to the tweaked one with Stage 1.5. Niki managed to squeeze out some more potential with his fettling  Only reason he was able to make that difference was because of the BCS Full TBE upgrade. If you are moving up from Stage 1 to anything higher (courtesy some decent flowing hardware), you'll certainly notice a change. Trust me - you'd love it  :innocent:

What spec are you running at the moment and what upgrade makes you want to go for 1.5?

See my experience from my previous post here:http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,92146.msg962530.html#msg962530

Cheers

It is highly embarrassing how I haven't updated my thread since July.. Nonetheless, better late than never.

I went for a holiday to 'The North' in summer and was fortunate to be blessed with decent weather. I went through Lake District, Glasgow, Inverness, North Pennines and Yorkshire Dales. Griffin was given a thorough cleanse and was ready for the 1200 mile journey that lay ahead.
I truly fell in love with the A82 and the drive there was stunning. Empty vast roads, good bends, breath taking views and most important of all - NO PESKY SPEED CAMERAS!
I post few worthy pics below for your enjoyment. Raced some bikers en route at 70-80MPH on twisty roads and it was thrilling! TCS off, Sport Mode and she felt tight and super responsive. That's the only time I've ever noticed the Oil Temperature read 97 degrees  :jumping: They were good blokes and finally when they passed (I slowed down), they gave me a thumbs up :innocent:

I even managed to squeeze 39MPGs (off a Stage 1.5 Mk5 GTI!) on the way back. Courtesy average speed cameras and cruise control.

With the cousin..

Racing with Bikers!

This little one wanted a lift..

Great mileage!

Great thread mate, some good mods, I would love a BCS exhaust at some point!

I'm hopefully booking a remap early next year, also need to pay that a/c man a visit, as mine doesn't work!

Did your old mfsw not control the headunits? The only thing that's not my taste is your choice of badges and stickers.

Thanks mate  That Aircon man (Darren) is fantastic. Try mentioning my name as a reference and he might give you few quid off. My old MFSW did control the audio but there was no track change, let alone change folders. This new one (with a new Gateway) does everything.

Appreciate the badges and stickers are not to everyone's taste

Stunning roads and gorgeous car!  Are you leaving the skirts etc. black or are you planning to colour code?
