So, I take it makes the car faster - or just easier to drive?

Both in equal measures

....Not faster in mph terms but faster in response.

Also easier in terms of more direct response. I'd say more fluid and smoother.

So the car feels faster. I can only offer my view re K03 GTI's.  :happy2:
Well that's great fellow GTi K03 owner... so do you have the remap already RR?

This may seem like a stupid question but im going to ask anyway.....

I havent got a map, totally standard, would / is this map available to standard cars, i drive using manual mode quite frequently and it would be great to iron out the niggles that have been mentioned before. If anything just free up the changes and feel a little more direct.

....Not a stupid question at all.

It's totally independent of the ECU map (as I understand it) and will definitely be of some joy - It's primarily designed for and works better for M-mode than anything else. I drive 95% in M-mode too. I've been driving with Revo's DSG pre-release version since March - It's very good. It is subtle on a K03 car though.

HTH

Thanks RR, im still leaning to saving for the engine map first but was thinking out loud!

....Yes, pre-release version since March, so easily 10,000 miles of it without any problems. Production version going on when I next visit JKM.

Just come off the phone to find out what stage 1 and 2 were

Any info on the differences?

The benefits are bigger if you are on REVO ECU software as the DSG software has been specifically tailored to suit :happy2:

Stage 2 is tailored to suit the higher tuned cars and also gives a 4k rpm launch control function for those who have 4WD/ TOYO R888's etc.

The REVO ECU software ups the limiter to 7,400rpm and so the DSG software in manual mode allows you to use all this powerband to the engine limiter. GIAC by comparison have a 7,250 ECU limit and the DSG changes up at around 7k in sport and 7,100rpm in manual.

There are a couple of things that disappointed me about the GIAC DSG software and they are:-

Kickdown is still enabled in manual mode, but seems to have a delay on it over stock to give the sensation of removing the kickdown
The DSG will still gear up at the 7.1k soft limit in manual mode after hitting the limiter. Not particularly a worry, but I'd rather have a hard limit and decide when I want to change the gears when in manual mode.

Both of these functions don't really get in the way of control too much on the road, but when on track you do notice it more.

I do have one more question that I need to ask REVO and that is ....Do they up the torque handling capacity of the DSG unit like GIAC do?     ie increase the oil pressure on the clutch plates to give a firmer, faster response as this is one function I wouldn't like to lose.
Just had to make an edit to this. I'd told my GIAC dealer that REVO had brought out the DSG software and how I was disappointed with the GIAC DSG software functions by comparison.

Had a phone call this morning telling me that I can pop down as they have now updated the software and it virtually matches REVO's stage 2 specs.

Delimit on torque handling in first and second gears
7,400 redline in manual
Manual now fully locked out
Enhanced sport mode
Launch control limit lifted to 4,000rpm

So I'm going to give this another try and it would mean saving £230 notes.

So, if you have a GIAC DSG remap already.....you may want to pop back down to your dealer and update it  :star:

^^^ Trator^^^
I can also confirm how good this software is.  :happy2: As, like JC, i've had it since the biggining of the year (albeit not driven it since bloody March  ).
What differences are there between my file and the production one Carl, any?
Oh and a bit of advice to those who are getting the file... Remember to change gear when in manual mode  :signLOL: As I had many  :ashamed: moments when getting a bit carried away and wondered why the car stopped accelerating..  :ashamed: Soon get use to it though and the changes are uber smooth  :happy2:

Hurdy.. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I love driving the DSG box with the Revo file on it, just makes it involving where as in standard form it really isn't..

Also for those that are doubting the performance advantage, it definitely does make the car physically faster, faster shift times, raised limiter and increased torque limit makes a BIG difference, I would expect on a K03 too!

Anyone thinking about it, just do it! Its a bloody bargain!!

This is likely to be the very first thing I do when I get my hands on a GTI, and I mean literally the day I buy it - probably before I even get the engine remapped too (still have a wedding to pay for... which would get me a Golf R with options!!).
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

Haha..

Stage 1 + DSG map would transform the car for sure..

Just got home after having mine updated to the production version of the stage 2 map by Carl and Kev @ Revo HQ.

Initial thoughts are it's a great improvement over the basic pre-production version I had before  :happy2:

Full review to follow later today  :fighting2:

I don't blame you..... try it and then meet up with someone like Steve, I put production software in Steve's car today and  it was simply awesome... then go with your initial intentions... (but remember you’ve only got until the end of December to get the best deal!)
