Is the original firmware backed up before applying the DSG remap...just in case there are any issues, etc.

Yes we will have the stock file for your car on file so can be returned to stock at any point! :)

Carl excuse my duffesness i dont know much about loading and keeping files. If say someone had your DSG software and then they get the known mechatronics fault,( not linked to your DSG map of course just the generic fault that a few of the boxes have).
If say then the op had the DSG box flashed back to stock to take it to the dealers to sort out the mechs problem. Would the dealer be able to tell that the box has had a map on, is there a flash count of some sort.  :happy2:

I can answer this one TC, Carl confirmed to me today they reset the flash counter so it wouldn't be obvious to the dealer  :happy2:

He also believes that this could be one thing the Revo software does that the others don't

Any DSG remappers close to Luton? The TTShop haven't come back as of yet and I don't want to lose out on the special offer.

I have been reading over the pond that a couple of the R32 boys have been back in for another mech unit after already having one replaced.  :chicken:

it would be good if we could set it back to standard settings with the SPS but i cant imagine dealers looking for the DSG software or is it really noticeable to them if the drive the car? im this close to getting this before crimbo but always worry!  :chicken:

Who knows.. To be honest I wouldn't be too confident about it holding up ok with the 4wd and extra weight of the S3 over the ED30.. But for sure if it worked then it would make the car a fair bit quicker!

....Playing Devil's Advocate here, but isn't this 'reset the flash counter' method the same principle which has been extensively discussed all over cyberspace regarding remapping the ECU and largely shown not to be foolproof if VAG did a specialist investigation? It doesn't really matter imo whether aftermarket software is detectable or not - I believe in a policy of being honest in such matters.

Certainly at this early time of DSG remaps, it's hardly likely to become an issue but we don't know about the future.

Another question is whether a battery disconnection resets the Revo DSG remap to oem. But judging from Carl's earlier post about this, I think it doesn't do this on Revo's current softwarez.

^^^ I didn't say it would fool a "specialist investigation" just the tools a dealership would typically have available to them. But like with all things car modification related you know you risk voiding your warranty.

The DSG remap does not have settings like the engine ECU remap so is not affected by battery disconnects in the same way.  :happy2:

....Thanks. As I thought but worth asking for everyone's benefit.  :happy2:
