Milltek vs. BCS?
« on: December 29, 2014, 02:39:33 pm »
Hiya

I bought my Eddy in August and there's been absolutely no modifications as of yet due to financial struggles haha.. Sooo, I now want my first mod - an exhaust

I have some options - BCS or Milltek.. Non res/res.. Catback or turbo back. Arghhh  :scared:

I can purchase a non res cat back milltek for somewhere in region of £470 ish.. But I can't find a price on a BCS variation of this? I've heard the quality of their exhaust systems are second to none but I'm unable to compare the two sound-wise, quality-wise or even price wise haha.. Thoughts/opinions please?

If I go milltek - there's a used turbo back for £400 on the bay at the moment, or a brand spankers catback as previously mentioned for £479. Is a used system worth it?

I'm not good at this performance stuff

thanks in advance  :ashamed:

BCS is the one for your eddy its slightly pricey but wait and go for the full performance system. This is obvious with you're eddy being a ko4 just stage 1 it at rtech and you'll get near 300 bhp and heavy torque and get the bcs and your sorted for a while obviously if your not a mod fiend  :drinking:

BCS is undoubtably much better quality, and Nige is a really helpful guy  :happy2:

Some folk prefer Milltek, but be wary that there have been numerous cases of welds failing on the downpipes  :scared:

Milltek's YouTube channel has a video of a full system fitted to a GTI from years ago, the cat back non-resonated isnt very much louder than a stock exhaust. A BCS, I belive, is louder but costs more. Plenty of videos from BCS in the Traders Section of this forum.

The BCS system is 3" diameter throughout (downpipe and cat back) whereas the Milltek downpipe is 3" but the cat back is 2.75" diameter.

For an Edition 30 who h has the larger turbo and higher power potential, a full 3" BCS system or even just cat back is the better option. Plus the boost triggered valve feature is better to live with. Last time I checked a full system from BCS in a group buy I was quoted £1100. Not sure on a cat back system alone.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Seen that 400 pound one on ebay and thought it looked a bit knackered.

Definitely interested in a group buy for the BCS ones.

Whats the different between all their variations? I know the powervalve has the sound thing, but whats the difference between the sports and prestige?

Get a BCS Powervlave. Ive had both, although I personally never had any problems with my Milly some peeps have but its still a good system. Ive had my BCS Powervlave on for over 2 years and it's epic, still looks like new when you look under the car.

Prestige has a slightly larger central silencer than the Sport so is a touch quieter.

Yes - non-GTI systems will be a smaller diameter and lose power
