Dilemma - BBS CH
« on: January 02, 2015, 08:18:20 am »
Hi guys,

Had my black 5-dr GTI for a while now so think it's time to treat it to some new wheels. I'm currently running 17s and have always thought BBS CH's suit the mk5.

Before I purchase the wheels I'm going to drop the car on the Bilstein B12 kit because I don't want it too low or uncomfortable, car is a daily driver and I have kids!

Hopefully the new suspension will close the gap nicely on a new set of 18" CH's but my dilemma is what colour to get. I had my heart set on black with the silver lip but after trawling this site for about 3hrs the other day I'm even more confused. I can see some people's opinions that black wheels on black cars seem to 'get lost' and not stand out. So then that got me thinking about anthracite......

Any views/opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

im running 18" BBS Ch's with eibach sportline springs on my black gti.

They are standard silver alloys and I think they really suit the car.

I agree with others that black alloys on a black car do get lost

So much for keeping it standard!

Hope this helps.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

I've got 19" genuine BBS CH026 which are the best fitment for the golf IMO. 19x8j ET50. The other 19" option is 19x8.5j ET35 which stick out a bit too much IMO.

I'm lowered on H&R springs and the ride is firm but still very comfortable.

I'm running 225/35/19 tyres BTW.

see my build thread for pics.

I didn't really read your post properly and have just seen its more about the colour than the size / fitment  :signLOL:

I personally wouldn't do black on black even with the silver rim. Silver or a very slightly darker shade (like the OEM ED30 wheels) would be great.
