Stripping rear seats out
« on: January 04, 2015, 12:24:58 am »
Been thinking of stripping my rear seats out
Done it to my old car but didn't feel much notice at all

Anyone roughly know how much weight you save and did you feel a difference?
Is it worth it?

Its no more than 15kg at most, and as said unless you want to remove everything its not much point.

I ran my best 1/4 et with the seats in...thought I could better the et with the seats removed and I've never been able to do it. Also, the back rests of the rear seat carries the most weight...the bottom portion is light as a feather and not worth removing. I never removed the passenger seat along with the rear, but I do not think it would matter. Traction and a better than 2.2sec 60ft et is where it's at.

You'll need to remove carpets, trim and roof lining (basically all but the dash, front door cards and front seats) to make any sort of difference and even then it's small.

Maybe, all I know is I'm not exactly strong and I managed to lift each part fairly easily. I'm rubbish at estimating weight anyway...

If you don't need them then get them out. Maybe 15kg in the spare wheel, plus the jack/breakdown kit....there's a fair amount of weight to be removed in total.
