DA is also very important as well.  Might be nice to have that on there too.

DA sometimes makes a HUGE difference in times.  All pro teams calculate DA at every event and even try to predict what it will be before race day.

Whats DA?

Density Altitude.  Its a calculation that takes into account weather and elevation on any given day at any given track in order to equalize times at different tracks and/or different days.

Its rather interesting, here's a link to a calculator:  http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-altitude-calculator.php

It helps alot for tracks that have differences in elevation and times had on different seasons/weather conditions.

For example, looking at just altitude alone, Crail is 23 meters above sea level and Santa Pod is 105 meters above sea level.

If you were to go Santa Pod today at noon and run a 12.2@110mph the DA would be 740ft and using the calculator it would correct your time to 12.19@110mph.

If you were to go Crail today at noon and run a 12.2@110mph the DA would be 356ft and using the calculator it would correct your time to 12.29@109mph.

Today's weather is very similar the main differences being the Relative Humidity and Altitude of the tracks.

Crail @ noon                           Santa Pod @ noon
17.6 C                                    18.4 C
1018 Hpa                               1023 Hpa
45%                                       90%
23MSL                                    105MSL

I agree - Would be worth noting that "K1" above has WMI and 420bhp.

Its referenced to the International standard atmosphere which is 1013 Hectopascals or 29.92 inches for you Keith  :wink:

And 15 degrees Celsius decreasing by 2 degrees per 1000 feet...

As Keith said its all about mixture and why on a cold crisp clear December morning sometimes your GTI feels ace

Rumour has it Statllers 4XX eddie is at brunters this week with timing gear and a new map, if I make it there (currently dodging landslides in Corsica) I'll sneak on here what it made, think its more of a 30-130 machine though with it being FWD

I've found all of the conversion calculators necessary, thank you!  I may not think in it but I can type in it (after some time spent on google).  :signLOL:

So, two weeks from today will be the R's virgin outing to the Pod (weather permitting!)

I will be full weight including spare and stage 2+, no suspension mods by then, so just engine mods DSG map and the race Haldex controller.

Any ideas what to expect?

Seriously though the car on the weighbridge comes in at spot on 1500kg with half a tank of fuel, so she's a heavy old bird!

Some decent lightness to be added in future though. :wink:
