On route to R-Tech my standard S3 clutch on 84k started slipping so it is time for it to be replaced.
I'm currently running just below 310 bhp but this will soon be a bit more when the down pipe, HPFP and another map is added.
I contacted
@vRSAlex and he suggested Helix which I now see is quite popular on this forum. In Particular he recommended the 6 paddle clutch as the organic clutch just won't handle any launches.
I tend not to do launches but if a Golf GTI pulls up next to me at the lights I would like to have the option to!
This car isn't and won't be tracked. It is my daily driver which gets taken 15 miles to work where I usually get caught in traffic every morning and evening so do not want something too harsh. I would like to stick with the OEM DMF.
Looking through some old posts and
@Tfsi_Mike was running an organic clutch on his stage 2+ car. On the other hand
@Phil_T Sachs uprated organic clutch started to slip after 15,000 and he mentions he didn't do any launches but both of these instances were a few years ago. More recent,
@MC71 seems to be happy running his organic clutch with 380 ft lb torque. I've also found a lot of posts of praise for Helix but most don't mention if they have had the organic or paddle options fitted.
Ideally I would go for the Helix 6 paddle so I know I'll be safe from slippage but everyone I have mentioned this to have told me to avoid paddle clutches for a daily driver. After doing some research It seems the 6 paddle isn't as on/off as a 4 paddle so would really be interested to have some reviews from the Helix 6 paddle owners or anyone that has some experience in this field.
