Thermostat recall?
« on: January 09, 2015, 06:20:39 pm »
My thermostat has gone, my mate works in a vw specialist garage and one of the blokes in there said his mate went to vw for a service and they fitted a new thermostat and new coil packs under a quiet recall apparently. . .
Dont know how true this is yet, anyone heard of anything???

Coil packs are well known about, but never heard of thermostats being a recall.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

No recall for thermostats.

Recalls are for safety reasons

Coil packs fail = fire
Thermostat fails =  engine takes longer to warm up

That's what I thought but he was very consistent with telling me I don't need to buy the part from him :/

Afaik if you don't replace a stuck thermostat the engine will run hot which isn't good.
