Help with Vw dealers for pcv
« on: January 12, 2015, 02:55:49 pm »
Hi everyone could do with some help, contacted vw about getting the revised pcv for my mk5 gti, it's 56 plate but unsure which revised version is for my car so thought vw would know,  sent them details etc but the reply I got was -

" Sorry , were is the pcv valve fitted you require , when you say PCV we are presuming you mean pressure control valve  but unfortunately there are various pressure valves on your vehicle.

If you could tell me where the part is you require then I can get back to you with a part number, price and availability. I can also send you pictures to confirm that the part is correct."

Slightly confused with what I should be telling them as to be honest I don't really know alot about this myself as not long been owner of my first mk5 gti and was just going to replace this pcv part with the revised one as just going by what I read it's a weak point an prone to failing when tuning the car etc.

Do you know what version you have installed at present?
This is important as the earlier (front) pcv didn't come with a check valve in the rear pcv tube. The latest version needs to have this check valve to operate correctly.
Without traction power is nothing!

Have the part numbers for the gasket and tubing that people also replace the same or have they been revised as well. I got my DV changed and this is next on the list as a preventative measure.
