Retro fitting
« on: January 11, 2015, 07:51:42 pm »
Hi, have a few questions and couldn't find anything specific so thought I would ask here!
I have a manual Edition 30 with a few extras, mfsw, highline dis, armrest with ipod dock (standard stereo I think) folding mirrors, and an aftermarket 3200 LS parrot bluetooth.
1)Would ideally like cruise control (and maybe xenons at somepoint but for now the osram nightbreakers are fine!)
Is there a specific one I should get and is it activated already after fitting?
2)Is there a way of finding out the factory spec of mine from chassis number? I read there should be codes in the service book but mine has a duplicate book from VW
3)I'm assuming that any retrofits are classed as modifications and should be declared on a like for like policy?

Many thanks for any info
Mike

1) cruise control will need coding once fitted

2) If you lift the carpet in the boot there's sticker with the same codes as the service book

3) yes all mods need declaring, including retrofits   :happy2:

ok thanks :) will have a look under the carpet, what am I looking for? I know the paint code and engine codes are there.

Is it a generic stalk I need to buy or are there different ones for mfsw control modules?

There are 2 models, this is the newer model 'G':

1K0 953 513 G

1K0 054 690 A

Both do the exact same thing, though - just a design change.

On the same sticker below the engine and paint codes are 3 number/ letter codes, that's your factory options, there's a code convertor somewhere online, I'll try dig it out for you  :happy2:

Be careful posting pictures that show your chassis number mate, that's something you REALLY want to keep private...

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

My chassis number shouldn't be showing? Are there other codes on there
