Coilovers: AP, PSS10, Weitec or KW V1
« on: December 30, 2014, 02:05:50 pm »
Just wondering what are the best coilovers I can get in terms of handling and also ride comfort as I from London, the roads here are full of speed humps and potholes so don't want a daily ride to be crashy for me.
Can I get some feedback on which set of coilovers will ride nicely or at least decent around town?

I too live/drive around London and I'm running Bilstien B14 coilovers. Now they've fully bedded in they're almost as comfortable as stock but handle so much better. They're worth the extra outlay in cost, especially when you combine them with Audi RS3 top mounts (just renew the rear top mounts with OEM items).

I have KW V1's on mine quite low and with 19" wheels so lower profile tyres and they're great, ride is pretty much OEM but handles soooo much better.

I also drive an R32 and Caddy van with them on regularly and they're spot on in those two as well. I haven't experienced the newer bilstiens so can't compare but I highly recommend the KW's.

I nearly when KW's myself, as they're highly rated. H&R are also another safe bet as well, going by the mass of good feedback. Check out the Mods section (link along the top with others) and browse through there, tons of info and ideas.

What difference do the top mounts make just wondering?

They just help stiffen things up further and help reduce the suspension moving side to side when cornering, in short. It's always advisable to renew top mounts with shock absorbers anyway, and the cost of a full kit from ECS Tuning (available via PSI Tuning.com) is well worth it. Also gives an even more "new car" feel to the ride.

Just ordered the bilstein b14 PSS kit could you give me the link to the kit from PSI tuning or ECS?

Having had V3 & PSS10, PSS10 for sure.

The ease of adjustability on the bilsteins.  The comfort (on my road setting) and the performance on track are all an improvement over my V3s

The V3 lowest ride height was slightly lower than that of the bilsteins

I've had my AP coilovers on for just less than 3 months, and found them to be really comfortable, however they don't go super lower. I had the adjusters taken out on the rears, but the front still has 20mm of thread left, so they went low enough for me.

It jsut so happens they will be for sale this time next week too  :happy2:
