What about 5w30?

5w30 is fine and is the VW spec but if you drive quite hard and especially if your engines tuned it sees very high temps. At higher temps the 5w40 lubricates better than the 5w30.

This....

is what i have

oil temps dropped from about 95-99 on the normal 5w30 oil to 85-90 on the millers stuff. also it doesn't heat up as quickly and when it does, it cools down better too (unsure how really but hey ho!  :stupid:)

i have my oil temp on my fiscon on all the time so always watching it.

I was going to try it when my local specialist dropped the oil for me a couple of wks ago, they refused point blank to refill with anything other than the 5w30 castrol. Looks like it's up to me when it needs a change next time round.

thats exactly it and 5w30 (and more expensvive)is normally longlife schedule, i use 5w40 quantum fully syn from dealers (tps) which is castrol better for tuned engine as lubes engine better, ive herd good results about millers but im sticking with what dealer recommends !
