No boost and noise
« on: January 14, 2015, 11:34:47 am »
Whilst driving to work this morning there is no strong pull from the turbo, just a bit of noise. I popped the bonnet at work and it sounds pretty rough under there. Just tried a friends vag-com but its not reading the system, so ive got no fault codes. Can anyone shed any light? Cheers

Your dv was on the way out, you gave it a bit of welly and the already week DV rubber diaphragm decided "sure I can't take this anymore" from a combination of the extreme cold and your heavy foot and kablamo!!!

Well that's where I'd start anyway although that wouldn't explain the noisy engine.

Second that, driving with a burst dv will lose power and possibly give a hiss from escaping air but I wouldn't have driven the car if it sounded like that! Get it checked ASAP!!!!

Decided to drive to work in the golf this morning to see if any better, I'm still getting weak boost and increased noise but it's noticeably better than yesterday. Maybe the severe cold affected something? Booked in Monday morning for diagnostics and repair anyway :)

Something like this happened me a couple of weeks ago. Was driving the car and all was fine, then I noticed the car didn't seem to be boosting. I immediately thought it was the diverter and drove home and left the car for a few days. I've since driven the car every day and it's back driving like normal

Cars been in the garage this morning, there is broken piece between the hot and cold side of the turbo. New turbo ordered along with a 20k service, new discs and pads all round and some new mats :)
