Cosmetic damage after VW service - Advice
« on: January 15, 2015, 02:54:29 pm »
So took my GTi into VW in exeter for a minor service today and came back to my car to find a ping on the wheel arch and a key scratch on the edge of the drivers door!

So angry to say the least after having the car only 2 weeks and with it being in such good condition prior to this. I went back and spoke to the service guys and they said they will contact me within 24 hours after they have spoken to the body work specialists but i think this was for a 'discounted price', I hope they aren't expecting me to fork out for this!

They also said that they can see no way in which it could of happened as the car has space all around it when being serviced and nothing could of hit it...hard to believe.

Any advice in this would be grateful as i appreciate these type of things can be my word against theres,, but perhaps this has happened to someone else before?

Sorry to hear that mate. They will hopefully offer to rectify the damage caused. If not you can take it up further the chain of command. There is a similar thread here where the poor chap had his rust issues sorted at VW to only find they made the car worse & caused further damaged to the car. I think VW have offered to rectify the damage.

It is so annoying i literally feel sick. Saved up and bought the perfect car, take it to VW thinking that you are doing the best thing and then they don't even look after your car!

My girlfriend took her car into our local VW body shop for sorting the front wings out and when we got it back it had dents and scratches all over it! We complained and they agreed to repair it all for free.

Contact VW head office with photos and complain directly to them.

I have had another look now and think i have found another little ding. Difficult to be sure that it was them but I'm the kind of person that notices things like that pretty quickly. In total that would be 2 dings and a deep scratch on the door. Last time i visit them for sure!

They would have carried out a vehicle health check when you dropped it ofvthat you would have signed, so if the damage isn't shown in thefe then they have noeg to stand on!

I had damage done to one of my wheels and passaner door when I droppes mind off for a service. After a month or so of constant forward and back, me chasing them up, I finally got a cheque off them to cover the costs. They had offered a 'good will' gesture and fix if themself, I literally laughed at them and said my car is never going near them again, I want the money. Took a while, but I  got there in the end :)

Best of luck!

Received a phone call from the manager and have been told that as long as I tell the vw survey that I was extremely happy with the service I received then they will do the work, but if I don't then they don't want to know..!

Seems like they made a lot of mistakes on the day by not walking me around the vehicle or doing a correct damage report on the day.

Just got to hope they stick by there word and do it and not only that but do it properly!

Although they do some shoddy work, they're not con artists, it won't result to that

Regardless, once it's all settled, complain like hell to head office and let them know you've put the word out on the internet, that'll shake them into taking some measures to help future customers.
