Magnet help

Afternoon guys. I want to smooth my front grill and wanted to be able to put my number plate back on with magnets if I get pulled. I'm just unsure as to what magnets to go for as there is so many different weights ( how much it will take to pull apart). Any help appreciated

The strongest I found was 25kg and thought that might be a bit much lol

Just got some meself to do my plate
E magnet uk loads to choose from I got 3.5 kg magnets x10 very strong indeed and brought some adhesive to stick them aswell

No problem.yeh will do wen I get round to it lol.
Think 3.5kg will be idea as they are very very difficult to separate.

Yer the only thing I'm thinking is what happens when you have plastic in between the magnets, like how much strength do they loose?

Fitted the 10 magnets on and would say lost a little force.
5 each side and holds ok but I probably buy a few more to be safe

I did it with rectangular neodymium magents from eBay. Only cost a few pound and are the strongest natural magnet you can buy I believe.

Used maybe 10 and it held just fine. Think I might actually have the how to and pics in my build thread

Use either N35 Neodymium magnets (from eBay, linky below to the ones I've got) or Double Sided Suction cups (eBay too, linky below to the ones I bought). I have an American smoothed grill and have both types, suction ones on the car and a magnet plate in the boot in case the other one goes AWOL.

You'll get a wee bit of scratching on the grill after time, no way around that with trapped dirt and other road detritus but nothing that can't be polished out.

@MC71 Do the suction cups make the front plate stick out a little bit so that it doesnt sit flush with the grill?

Im looking at getting something quick and easy to swap plates over on my car and they seem like a great idea! But wouldnt be too keen if the plate doesnt sit flush with the grill/bodywork...

The magnet plate is quicker to put on and it's finds its own place to attach due to magnets on rear of grill. Hold the plate near the grill and its on!!
