1st  in 1994 - 1983 GTI Mark 1

Yep, also say they are Delphi but EU say they are Blaupunkt.

Should they be avoided? or are they great value for money?

They're not Chinese clones, but OEM models in China.

You will lose RDS/radio station names, and a couple of minor things I can't remember.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

They are completely genuine VW, just designed for the Chinese market rather than EU. Only disadvantage is as above you loose RDS for the radio. However you gain native USB support which makes them great for using with an iPod or memory stick as it means you don't need the expensive MDI kit. Great value for money IMO.
