Hi all, I've noticed the last few weeks that when I start my GTI in the morning (it starts every time no issue) but once the engine has turnt over it sometimes idles at 1000 RPM when stone cold before dropping down to its normal idle.. 850ish.
Before it would start at around 1250 RPM then drop down slowly, ive noticed this as everyday I start my car I wont drive off until the revs have lowered to normal.
I would have thought with the colder weather the RPM should be heading more towards the 1250 area rather than down.
I have no running issues (MPG dropped over the last month by like 4mpg! and she takes a bit longer to warm up but that's probably the weather).
im wondering if the coolant temp sensor has anything to do with the idle as I got a feeling it could be faulty due to my gauge sometimes warming up to 75 degrees then eventually getting to 90.
im due a service soon and I will be cleaning my MAF while im there :)
any ideas ?? thanks in advance.
