Advice on gti seats
« on: January 24, 2015, 05:24:00 pm »
I've got a mk5 gt tdi sport which has the full leather Gti interior and I was wondering what the electric switch does on the side of the seats? I have the lever at the sides to jack the seat up and down and a lever at the front to move the seats forwards and back, so what are they for? At the moment they don't do anything so I guess whoever fitted them has missed something out and I would like them to work as they should! Any help would be appreciated, Cheers

I guess they aren't wired up then? Do you know if I need an additional loom or something?

Maybe the wrong loom was used to retrofit them or check the fuse. Do the heaters work on them?

Lumbar just needs a 12v if I recall
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Do you have a plug like this under your seats?

This is for heated seats.

If you have heated seats but not wired up, Kufatec sell a loom for heated and electric seats.

Otherwise, if you just need a 12v supply for lumbar, buy some repair wires and plug them into the fusebox, run the wire under the carpet and to your lumbar for both sides.

Bit odd they are not wired in but the rest is, have a scour for unused plugs etc and post them up if you find some.

I'll have a look when I get chance. I don't have any switches on the dash to switch on the heated seats so I guess I'd have to get them too?

Where would the connections be for the lumbar? Would they be a plug in connector?

Before you buy anything, look under your seats for this box. If seats are up to 2006 then both sides will have one, if after then only passenger side has it.
If this box isn't there, then the seats aren't heated.

It should be part of the big plug I put a picture up of.
It has its own fuse so check it hasn't popped.

Would the fuse be amongst the others?

The fuse number will be in the handbook and it is to the right of the steering wheel behind a D shaped panel, though if it was a retrofit they could have used any spare socket.

Best use a torch to see if you have an obviously burnt out fuse.
