Rear Screen Washer... Rather Pathetic!
« on: November 23, 2009, 07:56:19 pm »
Hi guys

Was driving home yesterday and I decided my rear screen needed a good squirting so did the whole squirt of the washer fluid thing, at first it came out as normal - squirting to around the top of the wipeable section, then it just sort of went all pathetic on me  :sad1: I was hoping it would have fixed itself today but no luck... what could it be? I use the squirter regularly and the front squirters are still going like gooduns...  :sad1:

First call should be to check the nozzle at the back isn't blocked.

You mean just by looking at it and sort of rubbing it to get rid of any possible dirt etc? Done that...

maybe try more foreplay  :chicken:

failing that, stick a pin in the jet to make sure its clear, if still no result then your going to need to get your mits on a bike pump and blow air at pressure through the tube behind the jet to unblock :happy2:

aim is never to let you washer fluid get too low so it doesnt suck dregs through the pipework, if the jet is fubar'd btw they arent expensive and readily available from your vw parts dept  :happy2:

Had the same problem on our audi the other week. Dunno if the golf one is the same but i just popped the plastic cover off and the jet itself is removable. Soaked it in some boiling water and washing up liquid for 10 mins then blew some clean water through it and its now working better than it ever has.
