Complete Body care kit
« on: February 13, 2015, 05:46:17 pm »
I want to start properly washing/detailing and looking after my car instead of just washing and drying as it doesnt last long and doesnt look the best it could.

Im just starting out and so i am looking for a recommended list of products as there are so many options. So im looking for products to wash the wheels, glass, paintwork and then care for the paint work. I also want to eventually get a machine polisher and restore the paint as it has alot of swirl marks. I have researched the correct cleaning methods and i am going to buy everything i need. Any recommendations will be great.

Cheers

plasterers buckets x2 (soap and rinse) they are huge and only a fiver each
Wash mitts x2....one for top half and one for bottom half
DemonShine Muck-Off(orange bottle) good pre-wash and will do at least 4 least cars (halfords)
Clay bar kit (Meguairs?) loads of other brands of clay bars and mitts to choose
Kent drying towel....massive and always on special offer in homebase,
Quick detailer(Meguairs?) use with the drying towel for spot free finish
Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Autoglym HD Wax
Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection
Autoglym Glass and Plastic cleaner....not the best but does the job

Other products to consider, snowfoam lance, pressure washer, fallout removers, wheel cleaners, wheel sealent, glass sealent, machine polisher>>>>pads and polishes, detailing brushes, wheel brushes...the list is endless...almost.

OR pay someone to do it and then maintain it...but wheres the fun in that!

Just to be clear would this be the correct way of detailing my car:

-Rinse
-Wash using shampoo
-Rinse
-Dry using MF cloth and quick detailer
-Apply polish/Glaze
-Apply Wax/Sealent

What is the difference between polish/glaze and wax/sealent

Add snowfoam to the top of that list.

Polish/ glaze is only to remove or fill swirl marks and scratches and gives virtually no protection if any at all.

Wax/ sealant is to be applied last as it's purpose is only protection although some do fill swirling/ scratching a little bit
