Yeah, if you can make a log that would be easier to know if all is well, or at least check your maximum EGT with an bluetooth OBD reader going WOT. Too high EGT will kill your turbo sooner than normal.

Yes mate you sure have, soon to do the brake calipers and when I install front fogs gonna get an orange tint for them. Think it should look good with a few orange bits around the car.

To be fair I wouldn't mind copying a lot of what you've done to your car  :happy2: just had mine re mapped but think I need to start thinking about a new turbo and internals

So got the car on the dyno today and it was making 134WHP. Was pretty happy with that and all was going well...

Until my clucth started slipping on the way back from the Arsenal game last night. So little bit pissed right now :(

AFAIK the dyno gave you the power at the flywheel, not at the wheel like the WHP would suggest. 134 WHP would mean around 160-170 BHP, which the OEM turbo can't handle.

I think AMD should have made a smoother torque delivery to preserve the clutch, with that spike no wonder it's slipping with your OEM disk. If you like the torque, maybe you can think about converting to a single mass flywheel.

Yea the guy who done the dyno said he reckons its running at 160bhp and he said that the mustang dynos are very accurate. I think thats the route I'm going to have to go down man.

Is annoying because AmD said that the car would be able to handle the remap they gave it. I'm all new to all of this so when you hear it from guys in the know you assume they know best. Lesson learnt I spose though... Going to have to be careful with how I drive once its fitted so the turbo doesn't go as well. Want to upgrade it soon anyway but cant afford it just yet. As well as trying to save to move outa my parents aswell!

The OEM clutch can safely handle the torque at higher RPMs. I think it's safer for the OEM turbo to just handle around 140 BHP. I'm no tuner or mechanic but that's what I've learned so far.

Of course there a lot of factors to take into account: peak boost, max EGT, etc. I wouldn't do much WOT accelerations before doing some logs to make sure it's running safely.

If your engine is a BKC/BXE like I guess, you can think about a Garrett GT1749VB for a reliable 170 BHP. For more you need to replace the injectors or fit bigger nozzles. I went for a Sachs Performance clutch with OEM dual mass flywheel, which is good enough for me and like OEM. AFAIK most people fit a single mass flywheel with a reinforced clutch.

Yours is the 2.0L (not sure if PD140 or PD170), which has a much stronger clutch that is similar to the 1.9 TDI PD130 clutch, while ours is similar to the 1.9 TDI PD100. I had no idea of that difference before I bought mine...

Your map should be more progressive, I think this AMD map is too harsh on the clutch. It should give a good kick when boosting but both turbo and clutch will suffer from the increased demand.

Progress been a bit slow lately, not had a great deal of money after a holiday and a few months with no overtime, however a few new but small updates. Firstly the clutch is now sorted and not slipping any more so am happy with that. So decided to give the car a clean, Im by no means a detailer but was happy with the outcome!

Then got hold of some GTi skirts from TPS for circa 40 quid each plus vat, got them on the other day and really happy with them.

No a great photo but you get the idea, and finally I have had the boot struts upgraded as well as pins and bumper, just need the coding done on vcds to activate the boot pop mod!

And thats how we are sitting at the moment  :happy2:

Really enjoyed reading this thread mate. You've done a lot of good work!

Hit me with some serious nostalgia when I saw the TD Pro Race's. Had some 1.2's on my very first car. A Renault Clio many years ago... Haha!

Looking great mate!
