AP racing kit cheap! now with pics
« on: November 23, 2009, 08:53:00 pm »
Going to get these fitted on my Leon Fr- replacing 312 iron Mkv gti kit.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g284/mechanicalrepairs/vwbrakes001.jpg
The set i have made up may interest some of you on here, these are a big brake kit for the mk5 golf/seat leon, these are 335mm brake rotors, bells, brackets, pads, calipers and braided brake lines, basically everything you need to fit these to your car. All the brackets and the bells (centre of the disc) have been clear anodised so will not corrode and look horrid behind your wheels.

If fitting is a problem then please state and i can fit these for you at my garage in Leicester.

Selling these for £995 and will fit the kit for an extra £50 with fresh brake fluid being flushed through your brake system.

I quote from the guy who is supplying me and will post a full review and project report.

He has done the development on a MkvTdi 170- as my car is 100 miles away- here is them fitted under 17"s.

No- the bells are machined to give the same effect as a small spacer- specifically for my set up- the wheels shown are Golf fitment and fit too.

so in effect the bell is X mm thicker to get the necessary caliper clearance.  If that is the case you will need longer wheel bolts and lockers. Tthere is not much spare length on a standard bolt.

Hope you machine the TVR off.....................

Nice looking kit... are the rotors by compbrake?/Powervane?/Replacement Cost?

I Think Reyland had a load of these calipers for sale after they finished prepping the TVR Cup cars, got offered a boxful but wasn't to keen on the TVR logo

Slightly perversely I am keeping the Trevor logo partly so those who look closely will wonder and partly as a tribute to a now gone fragment of british sports motoring history- my supplier will machine them off for more normal punters who dont share my sense of delight in the oddball. No extra cost-I am having them in red without the logo picked out so, judge for yourself when I post the pix!

Good point!
The bells are 7mm thicker and the kit includes the longer bolts-all in the price!

Looks a pretty good bit of kit.

Are the dics floating, or just straight bolted through? What's the offset increase?
Sideways yo!

I'm having them fitted on Saturday and will post with Weights and pics- I think they are just bolted , not floating, and I don't know the offset but will measure if someone tells me how!
These are intended as proper big brakes for the same price as a heavy OEM transplant-under £1k for a serious quality upgrade-:fingerscrossedsmiley:
