Flat Battery
« on: January 28, 2015, 01:32:16 pm »
Had a bulb warning light come on yesterday so was dicking about with the light switches to see which bulb. (sidelight) left the switch in auto (oops i may have left it on sidelights) and locked up. Went out today and the remote wouldn't open the doors, tried the keyhole then turned the ignition and nothing, dead as the proverbial dodo. I think I have done something when messing around with the switches for the lights, could they still be on when the ignition is off?  :rolleye:
Very strange cause the battery has seemed fine till now, its almost like I have somehow set off some immobilizer that has killed all the electrics......Im off to Halfrauds to get a battery charger  :sad1:

if its dead flat the halfrauds charger won't work, as a safety measure it will only supply current when it senses it is connected to a battery correctly, and to do that the battery must have something in it.......mad eh......must be something to due with EU safety  :P
you may have to use jump leads first to get it started, and the alternator will put some charge in, so the charger will work overnight.

Cheers for the warning  :happy2: luckily I held on and checked with my mate who has an old Unipart one, battery on charge now so hopefully that will sort it out......I must have left the sidelight on like a twonk.  :embarrassed: Next problem will be getting the side light bulb out, I hear they are a pain in the arse.

Is it possible you left the indicator down which leaves a side light on? If the switch is on auto, the lights should normally go out when the car is locked?

Prety sure I didn't leave the indicator down, I normaly leave it in auto but I recal dicking about and putting it on side lights when I was checking bulbs. I should have paid more attention when I got into the car when the battery died instead of just turning the switch to off. :embarrassed: I take it the sidelights would stay on with the car locked?

Hmm... Maybe they do, eg. When the car is parked up you may want them on... I'll check on mine shortly.

Sidelights stay on when car is locked, with switch in sidelight position. Lights on warning chimes when door is opened.
