Who has left the MK5 and ended up coming back to one?

Or another 2.0 TFSI variant.

If you were disappointed with your new steed what was it and why did you yearn for your old MK5 back?

Me!

I had a mk5 GTI, loved it, but traded it in after 2 years for a mk6 R.. which felt too safe by comparison and not that much faster (gti was mapped)..

After 6 months, I managed to trade in the R for what I had on outstanding finance (held its value well) for a mk5 R32.. not as quick, but I enjoy it more in every other aspect  :drinking:

Surely if you mapped an R it would be a lot quicker....
Like me going from my tuned TDI running 220+bhp complaining my stock GTI was slower.. until it was mapped!  :driver:

Anyone moved to a big n/a engine and missed the joys of forced induction?

I went from a GTI to a Disesel Rocco, which handled well and was quite nippy but it didn't sound as great and was a bit too cramped. . . So I bought an Edition 30  :star:

I haven't looked back since. . .

I did map the R stage 1, and yeah it was quick but I found the lag increased too, maybe not the best map (bluefin) but the majority of the driving I do is around town and the torque of the 3.2 is a lot more usable in those situations than the sleepy head KO4

Yeah I have, although its more of a mk5.5 and is still a 2.0tfsi as per the opening thread if you're splitting hairs  :happy2:

True that!

If petrol stays cheap I might end up in an R32 and supercharge it...

I'd have to say the '35 is the best all rounder as it brings all the best bits of my old ed30 but with the practicality of 5 doors (one of the main reasons for the swap),

The ed30 will still remain one of my favourites though, kept it the longest (5 years), did the most mods and went all over Europe in it without missing a beat  :happy2:
