tyre recomendations

I'm on the look out for some new tyres for my gti and I don't really have a clue when it comes to tyres, I'm looking for 4x 225/40/18 and have £300 to spend.

I have seen uniroyal rain sport 3's on camskill for £75ish, are these a good tyre for the money?

I got some ULTRAC SESSANTA XL a few month ago from jungle tyres.
Had some decent reviews and they'll be bang on your budget, cost me £294 and it was free delivery.

Had rainsport 2s on my old BMW 330i recently and had no concerns, great in the wet obviously! I had the vredestein Ultra sessantas on my old v8 s4 and felt they helped the slightly cumbersome nose heavy car overcome some of its understeer issues whilst also wearing very well. Thumbs up for both!

I always used camskill and mytyres but recently found tyreleader were cheapest for my new Michelin super sports which BTW I highly recommend if you can stretch to them.

Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2's are my favourite, and usually on camskill for less than £100 each

Everyone goes for Goodyear Eagle F1 and Michelin PS3.

I decided to be different and get Pirelli P-Zero.

I haven't tried the 2 favourites so can't comment but my Pirellis have great grip in all conditions and are a huge difference to my last tyres.

I've had them on 6 months maybe and they're looking fine so far!

I think the general opinion here is
Michelin PSS > Good Year F1 > Michelin PS3

I've been on PS3s for 3 years and will be going PSS (which is what michelin now recommend for the GTI) when I next need tyres

I previously had the Eagle F1's (which were better when they were the GDS3 directional pattern) and after all the reviews am trying PSS on the front and so far they're definitely better, I shall be putting a pair on the back very soon. For £15 more per corner I think its worth it.

I've got Yokohama Paradas Spec IIs on all 4 corners and they're brilliant. I'm putting a lot of power through them and they cope really, really well with not too much wheel spin. I'm sure they're quite a bit cheaper than Michelin super sports etc too...

I have just had some Toyo T1Rs put on all round today. This has been my personal favourite tyre for years and at £264 for 4 fully fitted its a steal!

I really liked the T1R's they were great in the dry and pretty good in the wet (especially standing water) but when I went to the F1's they're definitley a better wet tyre.

That's a good price though, is that 224/40/18's?

They are a great all round tyre and for the price surely one of the best. My only critism is that they have a fairly soft compound so aren't the longest lasting and they are quite hard to get hold of nowadays. No they were 225/45/17s mate.
