Went from a s3 8p to a mk2 focus rs went back to a s3 and ed30 again

and your favourite all rounder? The 4wd of the S3 not better than the Golf for big power like you have gone?

It doesnt interest me to awd it no after having the s3 aswell.. If i go more again i probaly will convert the golf most of my driving is 3rd onwards and with a diff and trackday tyres its ok

As for all rounder the s3 easily the golf is just for a tear up the rs is a good all rounder but it looks like a toy car

Surely if you mapped an R it would be a lot quicker....
Like me going from my tuned TDI running 220+bhp complaining my stock GTI was slower.. until it was mapped!  :driver:

I did map the R stage 1, and yeah it was quick but I found the lag increased too, maybe not the best map (bluefin) but the majority of the driving I do is around town and the torque of the 3.2 is a lot more usable in those situations than the sleepy head KO4

True that!

If petrol stays cheap I might end up in an R32 and supercharge it...

The R averaged 29.5mpg on work commute, R32 averages 28.5.. small price to pay for all that lovely noise

I've been toying with getting a mk6 R, seen one going cheap near me but now I've done a load of work to the suspension I'm going to stick with my mk5. Had I not just dumped a whole load of effort into it I'd of been trading in as we speak...

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Purchased a 2005 laser blue GTi in 2006, biggest mistake in selling it, purchased a 2007 Passat B7 170 DSG, had it 4 months and hated it because it was so mundane, purchased my 2nd Steel grey GTi in 2007, had that a total of 3 weeks, then sold that for a Edition30 in 2007.. Toyed with the Mk6 R also but soon realised , apart from its 30ft launches, the R isn't that much quicker unless I spend an absolute fortune tuning it to go any faster then I can go now, imo not worth it , keep the money and wait for a mk7 lease motor in a couple years as there's gonna be plenty

The mk5 is a good car, had four of them in total and still have one now as a runaround/ back up car. I sold the Ed30 and bought the 6R as we wanted something newer but without having to go through the hassle of leasing which we would've had to with a 7R. The 6R is rarer which I like and having owned both the Ed and R I would say the R is def just as quick.
