Newbie from North Devon
« on: February 03, 2015, 07:47:57 pm »

Evening all, picked up a 57 plate 2.0 170 GTi on Saturday and I love it!

Ok its done a few miles, 159K! but its got very good history and had a replacement engine at 60K so all is not lost.

Its a black three door with full leather, and BBS 19" in black too, I'll post up some pics when I get the chance.

Andy B.

Thanks Mr Blues, just had a read through your build thread, very nice.

Think I might pop down to the local dealers tomorrow and ask about any recalls that may have been missed.

Want to get a centre arm rest as that seams to be the only thing that's missing...

The arm rest makes life that little bit nicer when your in 'cruise' mode ;-) thanks about my build so far.

Be worth a shout popping into your local dealer for recalls. I read through the forums before purchasing my car and saw about the recalls. It's the first thing I did to the car other than cleaned it properly.

Well I popped into the local stealers and the good news is the car is all up to date on recalls, there was only one apparently for the injectors...

Bad news, they want £120 to do a full scan of the car to find out why my ABS light is on, I said "Go Fish", or words to that effect...

What do I need to be able to read the code myself, I've got an OBDII reader but that shows no faults...

So what do you recommend guys???

Is yours a TDI or GTI?

On the GTI I did my coil packs. As for ABS light, is your traction control light on as well?
