2006 Mkv Gti (stick shift) owner here. I had to swerve really bad the other day and slam the brakes really hard to avoid a deer. Everything was fine, I kept control, and I drove home. Today, I’ve been hearing a low “wum” sound (best way to describe it) while driving between 25-35 mph. It sounds like it happens with every rotation of the wheel. I just checked the front tires, they’re brand new so nothing was wrong there. I do smell a burning rubber scent that I smelt when I got out of the car the other day. Could the brakes have shifted and now they are rubbing the rotor? Also, my front left axl has a split boot and I have the new axl I just haven’t gotten the time to fix it. Could that be an issue as well? I read somewhere that the smell comes from either the brakes, the wheels, or the clutch, and I’m hoping it’s not the clutch. First time posting to this forum. Sorry if I got something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
