Low “wum wum wum” sounds coming from front of the car.

2006 Mkv Gti (stick shift) owner here. I had to swerve really bad the other day and slam the brakes really hard to avoid a deer. Everything was fine, I kept control, and I drove home.  Today, I’ve been hearing a low “wum” sound (best way to describe it) while driving between 25-35 mph. It sounds like it happens with every rotation of the wheel.  I just checked the front tires, they’re brand new so nothing was wrong there. I do smell a burning rubber scent that I smelt when I got out of the car the other day.  Could the brakes have shifted and now they are rubbing the rotor? Also, my front left axl has a split boot and I have the new axl I just haven’t gotten the time to fix it. Could that be an issue as well? I read somewhere that the smell comes from either the brakes, the wheels, or the clutch, and I’m hoping it’s not the clutch.  First time posting to this forum. Sorry if I got something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I have EBC stage two brakes and rotors.  The rotors are slotted, and the brakes are “the green stuff.”

Bad rear wheel bearings generally make that “wum wum” noise, but could be brake related if you had to stand on them hard.
