Rust question again
« on: February 02, 2015, 06:00:49 pm »
Just washed the car and spotted what looks like rust , I know all about wing rust and the other areas that we can get it , but where do we stand on the warranty and getting it done for free in this area .
It's just at the bottom of the front wing but not on the wing just under it . I'll try and get pictures

Take it to a VW bodyshop, they'll sort you out. I just had my wings done hassle free, less than a 48 hour turn around!

I know wings are covered ( by most garages) but just wanted to know if anyone had rust there and if it was covered

It should be, don't see why it wouldn't be. Best thing to do is take it down and find out :happy2:

They're not so quick to agree to the sills, a lot of people only got a goodwill contribution which is a bit of a stinker as I've got rust on my sills.

Went this afternoon to local vw parkway Derby ( never had one problem in 7 years )
Warranty man looked and took pictures etc . He also looked at arches without me saying anything . Said should be ok to do sill even doing the other one and there's no rust on it .
His words where when you do one Sod's law the other goes straight after .
So well pleased

Sorry to hijack your thread but whats the deal with the VW rust warranty? GTI is on an 06 plate and not seen a VW dealership for servicing for a few years.  Can see rust on the boot and wins usual places but look to have been covered slightly with touch up paint by previous owner.  Does that void any chance of me getting it fixed under warranty?

Not sure how keen I am on taking it into a VW dealer anyway so might just get it sorted at my preferred and reliable body shop but good to know.

Cheers
