EQ advise
« on: February 07, 2015, 10:28:30 am »
I have a new Sony Headunit  MEX N5000 BT.  It had decent features for the money, most importantly Bluetooth Audio & phone with external Mic.

My issue is, although my last Sony headunit was more basic in terms of sound / EQ settings, one of the EQ presets gave a strong sound with quite powerful bass without being distorted.

The new head unit has the typical presets; rock, dance, R&B etc but it also has a custom 10 band EQ.  Had a quick flick through the preset settings and none sound quite as powerful as the previous HU.  Despite being 55w x 4 compared to the old one at 52w x 4 (probably a negligible difference anyway?)

Basically wondering if any audio geeks have any suggested EQ settings for me to try.

Listen to a mixture of Dance, hard dance, Dubstep, Drum & Bass

I'm all ears lol...

Start with it flat and boost the low end and high end to form a U shape.

Will give it a try. In 3 weeks when I get the car back haha.

Doesn't show it as a graph so could be tricky. Just gives the frequency name then go into it and set the level. If that makes sense?
