Please help my 03 1.6 golf estate was only firing on 3 cylinders so I couldn't get a pencil coil stick today so I went to local scrap yard to get one temporarily.  The one he gave me was a inch bigger and he ssid thats ok it will just stick out a bit. So I fitted it started the car it ran ok for a minute or two and then I noticed that the coil stick was hot and smoky so I stopped the engine and there was a horrible smell and some gunk that looked like oil on top of coil stick. I got a brand new coil stick put it in but car wouldn't start. I noticed a fuse was blown so changed it and the car started but as soon as I put foot on the gas it cut out and now won't start at all. please help give me a idea to what it could be.  Please please. Thanks

Definitely sounds electrical related, probably better off asking on a Golf MK4 forum.
