I know of standard GTI's which have split the plastic diaphram on the DV, so it's not exclusively remapped cars that can have the problem. also, there are remapped cars running fine so far with the VW stock DV.

The fact is that the VW DV is a weak link in the chain and if you are remapped it's a sensible precaution to fit a Forge DV instead, but it's not essential.

Stock DV's on the standard GTI's are allgedly more prone to splitting as the DV is located directly next to the turbo and so suffers from heat soak. The ED30 DV is located remotely at the front of the engine and so is less prone to heat soak and damage. If you fit a Forge DV you must remember that it isn't a fit and forget item. Every year it is advisable to open up the DV and lubricate it so the plunger/cylinder remains free. :smiley:

Your going to love the remap got to be the best mod for me!! I think the dv valve is kind of hit and miss really, had my car mapped about 6 months and no probs atm
