Michelin PS3 wear rate
« on: February 23, 2015, 05:38:11 pm »
So I bought my first PS3 and its done 16,000 miles and looks half worn. Only learnt about the tread wear rating printed on sidewall other day..oops, anyway most wea rates seem to be 280, whereas the PS3 is 320. So I was hoping the PS3 would last longer, but it doesn't appear to be. Is that because the tread depth seemed to be 1mm less to start with compared to Bridgestone S001 which did 40,000 on the front. I know you guys are happy with 8,000  :rolleye: , but my diesel is primarily for commuting 33,000 a year..... :sad1:
What is it with tyre manufacturers, they seem to hide away wear rates or not even mention them at all..

I'd imagine they'd "hide away" rated wear rates because they're soo open to conditions.

One set could last 40k of motorway miles or 1 afternoon on the track. All subject to conditions.

I've ran PS3s on my last few GTIs, and they've all worn really well considering the crap roads, harsh driving and mileage I've subjected them to.

My missus gets considerably less than that and she might aswell drive in reverse  :signLOL:

As for ps3's mine have only been on for 6 montgs but still as new after around 6,000 miles

I've got 25k on my set - car is a daily and a mixture of motorway and town driving. Great all round tyres.
