Oil leak right hand side of engine
«
on:
February 15, 2015, 05:37:48 pm »
Removed my intake system to put on my quick shift and noticed there was an oil leak coming from somewhere
Here is a picture i got off someone else who's got the same problem but no one has said how it could be fixed
Its coming from the circle plate with the 5 hex bolts
Anyone know how to sort this out?

As far as i'm aware matey, that is something cam related... also as far as i know, it can be fixed with a replacment part... But that's just looking at it, without stripping it down for a closer look.

Just noticed mine is leaking a bit from there. Not sure if its coming out of the cover or further back? Any info please chaps. Does that front cover have a seal under it as well?
Cheers

Read mixed reports on this. Some say new seal, sealant on that cover and worst case new pump. Advice need please chaps!

I've never had the problem but since access is easy I would try the cheapest first, sealant or home made oring but other members must of fixed it as I can't imagine they've all bought new pumps!

Both faces? Block and cover? Also what is the thing with the wires coming off it (just below pump) that had a bit of oil underneath it even though I wiped above it clean. Need to have a proper look!

Cleaned it down and put a bit of rag trapped underneath the end cover. Two days later and rag is still cleanish but still oil evident on the wiring loom underneath. Not a lot but enough to show on fingers when you wipe it. Can only assume its leaking further back. How many pipes are connected to it? Also how long has yours been leaking dom?

Been having a good think and read about this. If you seal up the outer face (the one with the thin plate) it may solve the leak problem but there should'nt be any oil in that chamber as its a 'vacuum pump'. There must be a internal seal with the pump which seals the rotating components within it. This is why some people have changed the seal on the diameter that mates with the engine, then still had leaks after that. Could it be cause by a dodgy PCV?
