Collecting 'Darth' Sunday *Updated*
« on: February 15, 2015, 07:31:28 pm »
Hi Everyone

My name is Jamie, 30 year old logistics manager based near Birmingham. Looking to dip my toes into the German scene for the first time. Previously I have owned several French hot hatches and 3 Impreza's.

I am looking for a manual, 5 door Golf GTi and my budget is 6k. If anyone knows of anything I should be wary of it would be much appreciated but I do intend to have a good search through the forum as I am sure these questions have been raised many times before.

Hope to join you all in the Dub world very soon!

Been having a right good butchers over the last few days. Lost of good examples around my 6k budget. What I cannot decide is whether to go down the manual or dsg flappy paddle route. Would have been nice to try both but unfortunatley the dsg's dont seem to be very local.

So after heading up to view the red GTI DSG today I was bitterly disappointed. It was described as in great condition but was very tatty, had a clunky heater fan and just didn't give me good vibes.

The next car on my list sold on-route, a black GTI DSG.

Final car I viewed was an 05 Black GTI Manual which from the outside is in pristine condition. The only thing which stopped me driving away there and then was the fact the drivers bolster cloth is really worn with rips to add. Apart from this the interior is unmarked and in great condition. I am just worried I wont be able to fix this and/or sourcing a replacement tartan 5 door seat maybe hard to come by and expensive.

Help!!

Collecting 'Darth' tomorrow! *Updated*
« Reply #12 on: February 21, 2015, 09:01:31 pm »
So I have found my GTI guys.

Outside it is immaculate, I even struggled to find stone chips at the front! Fresh refurbished 18" Monzas wrapped in new Goodyear tyres. Full VW service history also. The only thing I need to address is a hole in the drivers bolster.

I had set out searching for a DSG but after driving both I simply enjoy changing gear too much and think the DSG novelty would have worn off fast. Will be picking 'Darth' up tomorrow afternoon. Canny wait!!!
