Windscreen wiper problem

Hi was washing car today and as per manual pulled the wiper stalk down and turned on ignition to get the wipers to stay up so I could left them from the w'screen. Did the wash etc but when I tried to get the wipers to go back down on the window - nothing. Do you think it might be a fuse or have I inadvertently forgot/did something?

You didn't by chance open the bonnet,if so double check the latch microswitch!

I did open the bonnet where is the latch microswitch - pardon my ignorance!
