Whats needed for BWA to handle 400-420ish bhp 400ftlb
« on: February 15, 2015, 10:02:02 pm »
Whats needed for a bwa to handle 400-420bhp and 400 ft lbs ?
Is it like the old 1.8t platforms just a matter of conrods or are the pistons also a weak point ?
Trying to work out if its more cost effective to buy a cdla engine but there hard to source

You are right.

You could run it for a while before it goes bang, but not recommended.

Rods are the weak point.

Pistons have been known to go before rods on the BWA... Compression is too high.

CDLA will be the easiest route, and may even be the cheapest once you sell the BWA lump
